Improving productivity

Ever since the financial crisis a decade ago, annual growth in British productivity — output per hour worked — has slumped from roughly 2% to a little above zero. Without this growth, companies do not generate the resources to improve real levels of pay and raise living standards.

The mentoring for growth programme is working with the ‘Be the Business’ movement, a movement led by businesses for businesses, to drive up British productivity.

The programme

Designed to help London based SMEs accelerate business growth, this free 12-month programme has been designed to support business leaders who feel that they would benefit from accessing the experience and knowledge of a mentor from a larger multi-national business. These include Siemens, GSK and John Lewis Partnership.

Mentoring is to be provided to companies in the following key priority sectors:

• Tech and Digital
• Life Sciences
• Retail and Hospitality
• Advanced Urban Services
• Cultural and creative industries

Over the course of your tailored programme the mentor and mentee will commit to face-to-face and virtual monthly sessions that are aimed at building trust, and providing the mentee with access to their experience and know how. This will help build an action plan that will take the business to the next level.
