Building business confidence with Bloc
Our Lending team have recently worked with Bloc, a creative workspace business based in London.
Chris Oram, Business Development Manager at Newable, explains how we supported Bloc to help them complete their biggest project to date.
What is your role at Newable?
I am a Business Development Manager within the Newable Lending team. I work closely both with our network of introducers to raise awareness of the variety of funding options we offer so that we can help more growing businesses. I also work directly with loan applicants, such as Bloc.
How did you start working with Bloc?
Bloc was referred to Newable by one of our regular business introducers as they were looking for further funding to help them to realise their own growth plans. After reading their application, it was clear Bloc had a great idea which would not only provide a great workspace for the creative industries, but also vastly improve disused buildings and create jobs. From my point of view, this was a no-brainer.
What did you do to help Bloc?
I met with George Hull and Alex Benson, the directors of Bloc, to take them through the loan application process and to ensure that Newable understood their business and how we could help them. Our philosophy at Newable is equally driven by profit and social purpose, so we like to know the funding is spent on something we really believe will work and help the UK economy, which Bloc definitely do.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
To see our lending business grow and thereby help many innovative businesses realise their potential.
