And the winner is ….

Newable Private Investing really enjoyed the 2018 UKBAA Angel Investing Awards this year.

As if to underline the importance of the contribution to the UK’s innovation economy made by angel investing, the annual awards ceremony curated by the UK Business Angel Association, took place during the International Business Festival. This year the event was held in Liverpool and the Awards Ceremony took place in the magnificent setting of Liverpool Catherdral.

Newable Private Investing was proud to support these presitgious awards and sponsored the “Best Investment in High Growth Female Founder” category as part of our Fuelling Ambition programme. Alex Sleigh presented the award to Kim Nilsson of Pivigo. Pivigio uses big data to build a pipeline of data scientists.

Newable Private Investing and the exciting companies that we support through investment were recognised.

Flock was awarded “Best Investment in Smart Tech”. Flock offers drone flight analytics, allowing insurers to intelligently price and sell insurance premiums for drone flights. The investment from Angels and VCs enabled Flock to launch a new commercial and recreational pay-as-you fly product.

Hopster – which was nominted by our co-investment partner Angel Co-Fund – was awarded “Best International Growth Investment”. Hopster offers s subscription media platform offering children access to TV and educational games in a safe environment. The business has successfully used angel and VC investment to sccess Europe, Middle East, Indian and Australian markets and is now in 55 countries.

Hummingbird Tech was awarded “one to watch” in the category of “Best Investment in AI Technologies”. Hummingbird uses AI to significantly improve the effectiveness of Agri Tech, reducing use of water and pesticides to increase crop yields.

Jellagen was awaded “one to watch” in the category of “best Investment in MedTech”. The company uses jellyfish to develop collagen for diagnositcs and therpeutics and has successfully used Angel Investment and VC fungin to further build its sales and branding.

Last, but not least, Cynthia Nadal, one of Newable Private Investing’s most active angel investor was shortlisted for the “Best Female Led Investment”.

These awards recognise both the high active role played by Newable Private Investing in early stage investing and is a tribute to the entrepreneurs and the companies they are building.
