An Interview with Steve Rapley, International Trade Advisor

We caught up with Steve Rapley, an International Trade Advisor here at Newable who worked with 3D Life Prints to get exporting to the Middle East.

Steve Rapeley

What is an ITA and what do you do?

An International Trade Advisor represents the Department for International Trade, which offers support to UK companies to help them to grow the business by developing their International sales. Each ITA has experience working in, or with, overseas markets and we help first time or experienced exporters to enter new territories through services tailored to their individual needs.

What is the relationship with Newable?

Newable is a delivery partner for the Department for International Trade within the London and South East region. They undertake the various DIT programmes that are offered by the ITAs in these two regions.

How did you start working with 3D LifePrints?

I was first introduced to 3D LifePrints in mid-2016 when they were having some challenges relating to shipping declarations and overseas clearance of some of their products.

What did you do to help 3D Life Prints?

In this instance I introduced them to the relevant contacts at the Export Control Organisation which helped to resolve the issue, and over the past year I have provided them with a number of other contacts and opportunities that have led to their business expanding into new markets and sectors.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I enjoy meeting with representatives from companies of all sizes, and at all stages of their export journey.  To be able to provide assistance which leads to new overseas business relationships is very gratifying.

How can I work with you?

There are two ways you can work with us. If you are a Company or Sole Trader registered in the UK you can contact one of the nine DIT regional offices, and you will be introduced to a local ITA who will then arrange to meet with you. This link will direct your local office: https://www.contactus.trade.gov.uk/office-finder

Or, if you are looking for exporting advice, you can contact Newable directly on exporting@Newable.co.uk and we will be able to advise you on how we can help.
